Lottery Information

Here's some advice on lotteries: don't play

You really have to be desperate to play the lottery. Or stupid. Or both. Most lotteries only pay back about 50 percent of the money taken in. Those are TERRIBLE odds. The only good reason for playing can be wrapped up in one word - hope. But TIG is more concerned with odds, not hope. Take Powerball for example. They draw 5 balls out of 59, then 1 more ball (the Powerball!) out of 39. The odds of matching all 6? Try about one in 159 million. For all the odds involved, visit IG's Powerball odds page.

TIG salutes the following states for resisting the temptation to have a lottery: Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada and Utah. A special salute to Nevada for not being greedy. I mean, they already get a bazillion dollars a year from the casinos. That leaves 44 states (plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands) that want to get their hands on your cash. Just click on a state in the menu on the right and see all the fun ways you can hit it big, and the many more sad ways you can lose your shirt.
