Jai-Alai Statistics

As with our other jai-alai charts, this is based on a hypothetical batch of 10,000 games played to seven points with points doubling after the first round of play. An average number in the W, P and S categories is 1250. W+P is 2500 and W+P+S is 3750. As you would expect, low numbers rule.

Don't trust the computers? Let's go south on I-95 and drop in on the Miami Jai-Alai Fronton. The building has seen better days, that's for sure, but it's still hanging in there. Here is a chart based on results from more than 30,000 games from 2002 to 2008. IG's stats boy has adjusted the number to equal 10,000 games, so the numbers should be close to the same as the computer. As you can see, they're pretty darn close.

It was at this point that TIG and stats boy had a falling out. As best we can reconstruct, the conversation went something like this:

IG: Excuse me, but where are the show stats in this Miami table?

Stats Boy: Dude, that's too much work - 8 years - 30,000 games - 336 combinations. The win and place are just about the same, so the show should be too. Besides, this sport is just about a mile north of Deadsville. How many people are there to use these stats? Three...four? It's a waste of time. I'd rather get started on that NHL playoff analysis. Besides, you aren't paying me jack!

IG: That's it, slacker. Take your iPod, your backpack, and all that Starbucks junk and clear out!

Stats Boy: That suits me just fine. Good luck finding anyone to do this job for so little pay. So long, cheapskate.

IG: IG needs no one. He'll do it himself. Adios, loser.
